New Delhi, May 17, (www.khabrein.info) Prof. PK Abdul Aziz is being touted as the next VC of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). He is one of the five candidates whose names were referred to the President of India for consideration as the next AMU vice chancellor. The other four persons recommended by university court are Professor SM Ilyas (Director, National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad), Lt. General Zameeruddin Shah (Deputy Chief of the Army Staff), Professor Monirul Hasan (Guwahati University) and Professor SN Pathan (Vice Chancellor, Rashtrasant Tukovoji Maharaj University, Nagpur).
He is being coroneted at a time when the prestigious university is passing through one of the most difficult times of its history. After two killings of students in the campus, the fear psychosis continues till date with Rapid Action Force (RAF) manning the whole university. He will be taking over the reins of a university whose previous VC Naseem Ahmed and proctor Faizan Mustafa were forced to resign unceremoniously.
It is going to be a big test for an accomplished scientist like PK Abdul Azis who has an impeccable academic record. He did his MSC from School of Marine Sciences, Kochin University. It is the same university where he is serving as Vice chancellor since 2004. Later he did his PHD and DSC from University of Kerala’s Department of Aquatic Biology & Fisheries. Dr PK Abdul Azis has extensive experience during 1978-1983, 1985-1993 and 2002-2004 in the planning and administration of long term Research Projects in the Kerla University funded by agencies such as the Indian Space Research Organization, National Thermal Power Corporation, University Grants Commission and State S&T and Environment Committee. Currently Govt. of Kerala Nominee in the R.Shankar Award Committee to select the best college in Kerala. As Leader of a dynamic team of multi-disciplinary investigators, planned and executed a number of EIA studies in Kerala (India). Provided high quality data and assessments that provided new knowledge on environmental issues relating to various industries and development projects.

Fate of AMU!
Complaint is pending against Dr Aziz for plagiarizing the D.Sc. thesis, and also against the university for accepting two thesis violating norms. Another complaint is pending for submitting faudulant biodata to the Chancellor of CUSAT for garnering VC post. At this point he jumped out of CUSAT to become VC of AMU! What is in store for AMU we can wait and see.
Absolutely correct. Excellence in Science and Technology alone must be the merit for holding such positions where as certain other parameters played in Kerala till now and Education in Kerala is considered as a low profile one. Exceptional students may be there but system is still backward. The VC position must be reserved for those professionals -especially in CUSAT type- those who have contributed in professional filed from national laboratories, Space Centres, and other Research and Development units of India. They must be the people with vision for 21st century and people of caliber who have expressed it in public. Conspicuous selections based on religion, and political tailholding have spoiled Kerala. It must be given to young people below 55 who can enthusiastically contribute and motivate the community rather than giving to worn out machines looking for sedentary life through manipulating factions that they themselves create for their existence.
Prof.Abdul Azis is doing well. The hardly working staff members are being converted into hardworking members.Dr.Aziz has let the bad employees at their backfoot.
I salute.
XYZ
Dr. Asis is a ruthless man. Once few students at cusat (cochin university of science & technology) went to him to discuss about the death of a student while collecting fish specimen. They got beaten up and was jailed for "attempt at life" (he got some good connections to work out things).
He has no respect for others.
His performance at cusat, though he boast a lot, was very poor.
His academic brilliance is very bad he scored close to 50% marks for BSc and MSc. Who knows how he got his PhD ?
Though he boasts of having produced 9 phds when about 7 of them were awarded, he was working outside the country in a non-academic organisation. How could he guide the students at Trivandrum sitting at Saudi Arabia. (A miracle worker).
His biodata shows NO PUBLISHED WORK.
At cusat during his time students without marks and attendence were promoted.
At cusat also he was awarding construction works to CPWD at much higher rates than the local contractors alleging corruption, as if CPWD is corruption free (GREAT Joke). At the same time he got some work at cusat done under the supervision of Teachers, who have no experience in construction (the amount is yet to be settled).
Closing the university and sending students home overnight and filling the campus with police and doing anything sitting under police protection are also things he had implemented at cusat.
He is a politician rather than an academician.
I find him as a cruel man who hurt even who helped him. In our place we call them a cheat.
To get a DSc one should submit own work. He did not have any own work. To get DSc there should be three unanimous positive reports from three evaluators. He got only 2. Third was a negative report. Then others say it was manipulated and the DSc that he is holding is not belonging to him.
impeccable academic record ... laughable item.. who reports like this ... he brings shame to Muslim community.. At AMU he destroys fellow Muslims for his selfishness ... cruel man ... cruelty comes out of lack of intelligence.
The profile of Dr. Azis is a nice artistic work of vocabulary; far away from the truth.
The letter of Registrar of Kerala to the Governor of Kerala sidelines the plauguarisation issue claiming that it is the work of FOREIGN evaluators to detect it (who do not know anything about the local work that Dr. Azis copied). The fact that the non-unanimous recommendation of the thesis by evaluators makes the Thesis unsuitable for the award of D Sc degree is also not mentioned in the report. Above all the DSc work should be done by the person who submit it for the award of degree; which Dr. Azis did not do and he gave a FALSE certificate that the work was done by him. He makes such claims in all his explanations.
What I had stated in 2007 remains correct. CBI has found substance in allegations of malpractice in many counts.Question of plagiarism was not followed by of the authorities, except that KU changed the norms. If CBI findings are put before the court, Mr Abdul Aziz will be first VC to go to Thihar jail, where eminent Indians of post-indiependence scams are lodged.
